It gives me great pleasure to announce the launch of the Crescent Union Solidarity Programme (CUSP).
Since the Crescent College Comprehensive Past Pupils Union was relaunched in 2010, It has run a significant number of events – including an annual dinner, annual golf outing, table quiz and wine tasting evenings. For the school it has helped with placements for Transition Year students and a literary competition for third year students.
We have been conscious that past pupil unions in Jesuit schools have had a tradition of organising benevolent associations for past pupils with personal or career problems. We are very happy that we are now able to launch CUSP.
CUSP is an initiative to assist past pupils or staff of Crescent who may need support and advice at a time of personal difficulty. The problems can, for example, be personal, health or career related. We have assembled a panel of professionals (all of whom are Crescent past pupils) from areas such as law, finance, health, counselling, employment, and redundancy. They are willing to assist on a voluntary basis when required.
Any past pupils who contact CUSP can be assured of total confidentiality in all their dealings. CUSP will be managed by a sub-committee of the CCC Past Pupils Union. It will only report to the Union Committee on matters of organisation and finance. No information on its dealings with individual past pupils will come before the Union Committee.
Any former pupil or staff member of Crescent College Comprehensive or Sacred Heart College wishing to contact CUSP for advice or support, should call the dedicated phone number 061 518490 or email cusp@crescentpast.com. They will be contacted shortly afterwards by a member of the CUSP sub-committee.
