We are sad to announce the death of Garry Geary (Class of 1947) who died on May 9, 2020.
In his Crescent schooldays he was an accomplished athlete and represented Ireland when he participated in the World Catholic Student Games. He was Irish Youth 100 yards champion, and, unusually Senior 300 yards champion. Garry was also a rugby player of note by playing on the wing on the school SCT.
His adult life was spent as a Chartered Accountant in Limerick.
At the end of his athletic days Garry concentrated on golf. He quickly reached a very low handicap resulting in him representing Limerick GC at Senior Cup level. Gary was a member of the 1967 Barton Shield team, which brought the first club National Championship title to Limerick. Gary also helped the club win many Munster titles at various levels.
Having joined Limerick GC in 1952, such was his esteem in the club that he was bestowed with honorary membership, and was elected Club President in 2001.
