Ava Crean to lead Limerick
Crescent College Past Pupils Union is proud to congratulate Crescent past pupil and Limerick’s newest sporting star, Ava Crean, on being announced as Grand Marshal of the 2026 Limerick City St Patrick’s Day Parade. Ava will lead the parade through the city on 17 March, as part of this year’s Legends of Limerick festival.
Ava’s invitation as Grand Marshal crowns an extraordinary year on the road. In October 2025 she became the youngest ever Irish women’s national marathon champion, winning the Irish Life Dublin Marathon in a personal best of around 2:34 and finishing sixth overall. Her breakthrough season also included victories at the Regeneron Great Limerick Run and the Charleville Half Marathon, and a new Irish under-23 10km road record in Valencia earlier this year.
Speaking about her new role, Ava has said she is honoured to represent her home city and hopes to “inspire our community to chase their own goals with passion and pride.” We know many Crescent past pupils, students and families will be lining the streets to cheer her on this St Patrick’s Day.
