Death of past pupil, Fr Sean Coghlan SJ

The death has occurred of Fr Sean Coghlan SJ in Hong Kong on 2nd September 2021, Crescent class of 1951.

Sean was a past pupil of Crescent, and came from Faranshone in Limerick (an estate that was built by his grandfather). He joined the Jesuits on leaving school in 1951. Sean spent his priestly life in Hong Kong and Macau, where he learned to speak Cantonese.

He was appointed Principal of Colegio Mateus Ricci, Macau in 1981, and Principal of Wah Yan College, Hong Kong from 1988 – 1996 and was also Warden of Ricci Hall, Hong Kong from 1997 – 2010.
