CCPPU President 2020-21 Geraldine Heslin Deery

Death of past president and pupil, Mrs Geraldine Heslin-Deery

It is with profound regret that we record the death on the 14th June 2023 in a Dublin hospital of Geraldine Heslin Deery.

She graduated from Crescent College Comprehensive in 1983. Her subsequent career was in nursing, initially in England and then in St John’s Hospital here in Limerick. She married her Crescent school mate, Frank Deery, and had three children of whom she was immensely proud.

She had a great affection and loyalty to her old school, and with Frank, she was one of the committee which relaunched the School’s past pupils’ union in 2010. Her enormous contribution to rebuilding the Union was recognised when she was elected President for 2020-21. Covid unfortunately restricted her great contribution as President. Shortly after her presidency she was diagnosed with her fatal illness which she fought with characteristic courage, positivity and good humour.

Her friends are hugely saddened at the loss of this kind, gentle and caring woman, who was such a quiet tower of strength in everything to which she put her mind. Our thoughts and prayers are with Frank, Conor, Niamh, and Mary. May God give rest to her wonderful soul.
